35 East Wacker Drive
Chicago, Illinois
Structure: steel frame
Completed 1926
Architects: Thielbar & Fugard, with Giaver and Dinkelberg
This was the first office and commercial structure on Wacker Drive. It was dubbed the
"Jewelers Building" for the large number of jewelers who had stores in the
building. During the Depression, the domed top floor housed a speakeasy where Chicago
politicians were known to imbibe.
