The extension and renovation of the Hotel Georgia in Vancouver is now underway. The main part of the project will be the a new high-rise building on the current site of the hotel's 4-storey parking garage (corner of Georgia and Howe, across from Pacific Centre). The new 51-storey crystalline tower will be the tallest in Vancouver, at 530 feet. It will anchor and be the new focal point for Vancouver's skyline. Architect for the project is Bing Thom and Associates. Ever since Vancouver city council relaxes its height restrictions, several new highrises (taller than this one) are either under construction or in the proposal phases.
