Love is a complex, enduring set of mental and emotional states directed towards another person(s), involving varying degrees of intimacy, passion, and commitment (cf. "triangular theory of love"), and occurring within the context of and integrating with one or more of Lee's love styles/attitudes, and generally governed by global reciprocity and equity.
In this sense, liking is a type of love.
